A $1 product with a $101.76 ladder. A $17 product with a $742 ladder. I checked the real OTO stacks behind eight launches this month, using vendor JV pages and WarriorPlus funnel maps rather than the sales pages — because the sales pages do not mention any of it. Six of the eight have a ladder. One has none at all.

Why do launch products have so many upsells?
Because the front end is a tripwire, not a product. A $1 or $17 entry price buys attention. The vendor recovers the margin through one-time offers presented immediately after purchase, when the buyer has already committed and the friction of saying no is highest.
What did the eight launches actually cost?
| Product | Advertised | Full funnel | Multiple |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI Brain Transplant | $1 | $101.76 + $17/mo | 102× |
| Traffic Supernova | $17 | $742 + $1/30d | 44× |
| Are We There Yet PLR | $17 | $355 | 21× |
| Royalty Profits AI | $27 | $335 | 12× |
| KDP Cozy Crime Publisher | $17 | $255 | 15× |
| KinderBloom | $14.96 | $99.76 | 6.7× |
| Bounceback Blueprint | $5–19 | up to $197 | ~10× |
| AIBizly | $497 | $497 | 1× |
The multiple is the honest measure. A 100× multiple on a one-dollar product is not a pricing quirk, it is the business model.
Which one is the worst?
AI Brain Transplant. A $1 front end, then a $9.97 bump, $12.95, $14.95, $12.97, a $2.99 trial that converts to $17 per month, $14.97, and $17.95. The one-time total is $101.76, and the subscription runs indefinitely.
The $2.99 trial is the part worth noticing. It is small enough to accept without thinking, and it converts to a recurring charge. That is a different mechanism from an upsell, and it does not stop on its own.
Which one is the best?
AIBizly, and not because it is cheap. It is the most expensive product here at $497, and it is the only one with no ladder at all. The vendor states it directly on the affiliate page: no upsells, no backend funnel.
That is a real signal. A vendor who can charge $497 up front does not need a ladder. A vendor charging $1 always does.
Do you have to buy the upsells?
No. Every vendor states they are optional, and most buyers decline. The reason to know the total is not that you must pay it — it is that the offers arrive at the exact moment you are least likely to evaluate them carefully.
How do you find the real price before buying?
Look for the vendor’s JV or affiliate page, not the sales page. JV pages list every tier with its commission because affiliates need to know what they are promoting. The network’s funnel map does the same thing. Both are public, and neither is linked from the sales page.
For WarriorPlus launches, the funnel map sits on the affiliate offer page. For most others, search the product name plus “JV” or check the launch listing on MunchEye.
Does this make the products bad?
No. A ladder is normal in this market, and several tiers here are genuinely optional. What makes a product bad is a ladder that hides the thing you actually need behind tier four. What makes it good is a front end that works on its own.
That is the question worth asking before you buy: does the cheapest tier do the job, or is it a sample of the real product? For the KDP Cozy Crime Publisher, the $17 Draft tier genuinely writes a book. For others, the front end is a demo.
